When it all began
I guess it was when I was around 10, sitting in my Grandma's kitchen. My Aunts were arriving one by one with arms loaded with the supplies needed for the annual tamale making. This is no simple task as the pork has been slow cooking since the day before, masa needs to be made and corn husk need tending too. I remember thinking how silly it was to have all 5 of my Aunts, my grandma and me making tamales together. My grandma and I could do it ourselves. Boy was I wrong! What I thought was going to be a quick couple dozen and have them knocked out if a few hours ended up being 30 dozen! You see I have 10 Aunts and Uncles and we all get 3 dozen! By the end of the day my hands and fingers were so sore but boy were those Tamales delicious! From that day on I was hooked, on food and family traditions.
